  63. Welcome to Backup Fugue for DOS, the Premier backup program for PCs!
  64.  
  65. Power failures, hardware or software problems, or user mistakes can all
  66. result in data loss. Knowing you have an up to date backup means you can
  67. get things up and running normally in a short space of time.
  68.  
  69. Until now, keeping a backup up to date meant juggling with in increasing
  70. number of backup sets, while restoring files meant restoring obsolete
  71. copies of files from older backup sets just so you go on to restore from
  72. the later backup set.

  74. With Backup Fugue, all this has changed. You take a full backup only
  75. once. After that, Backup Fugue backs up only files which have changed.
  76. All files are written to the one backup set, making it easy to find them
  77. later. You can keep multiple versions of files if you desire, and
  78. obsolete files are deleted from the backup and the space reused.

  81. tune the selection process by masking out files, or even mark individual
  82. files to be excluded or included!

  84. Backup Fugue uses compression to save space on the backup. The
  85. compression uses industry standard methods, and achieves both high
  86. compression ratios and speed.

  88. Backup Fugue can handle any number of hard disks, and any size hard disk
  89. (subject to memory constraints). The backup destination can be any size
  90. removable disk, including Syquest and Bernouli removable hard disks. The
  91. program can also backup across networks.

  94. BACKUP FUGUE QUICK START GUIDE

  96. To enable you to start backing up in the minimum time possible, refer to
  97. the file BUQUICK.DOC which will guide you through setting up and taking a
  98. backup. There is also a section describing how to restore your data if
  99. necessary.

  101. For those of you who don't want to read even that file, assuming you
  102. want to backup your hard disk C:

  104. If you have a 286 or better, type in:

  110. If you want to use a destination drive other than A:, press Alt C
  111. followed by B and type in the destination drive.

  113. Press F5 to start the backup. Make sure you have a plentiful supply of

  143. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  145. As issued by Fugue Software, the disk is self installing:
  146. Place the disk in drive A: or B:, and make that the default drive by
  147. typing on A: or B: and pressing Enter.
  148.  
  149. Type in INSTALL.
  150.  
  151. Select the destination drive letter and directory to install into, press
  152. Enter, and the program will be installed automatically.

  154.  BBS Files

  156.  If you have the BBS version of Backup Fugue, then all you received was
  157.  the file BUPRO.ZIP or BUPRO.EXE, and all the files have been
  158.  archived into this file. In this case you need to extract all the
  159.  files to either your hard disk or your floppy disk before you can
  160.  run SETUP:

  162.  From DOS, make a new directory for the program. Then copy the file
  163.  to your hard disk and extract the files:
  164.  
  165.     for .ZIP     type in     PKUNZIP -E  BUPRO

  167.     for .EXE     type in     BUPRO

  169.  Once you have extracted all the files, you can delete the BUPRO archive
  170.  file from your hard disk.

  185. have the shareware version.  If you continue the use the shareware
  186. program after a reasonable evaluation period (we allow 42 days) you must

  189. on the registration fee. If you have a local agent, they will have
  190. modified the ORDER.FRM file to reflect local prices.
